Johan is an award-winning actor, singer, designer and author.
He appeared in more than 120 main-stream theatre productions for all the Performing Arts Councils and nationwide at all the main Theatre Festivals.
He spent close to nine years singing in Europe in particular in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
He sang leads in Evita (Ché) JC Superstar (Judas, Jesus) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat (Narrator) He performed in pantomimes like ‘Robinson Crusoeʼ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalkʼ in which he played the title roles.
In Cabaret he shared the stage with performers like Jennifer Ferguson, Laurika Rauch, Kate Normington, Elzabe Zietsman, Coenie de Villiers, Casper de Vries and June van Merch, only to name a few.
As far as drama is concerned he featured in 57 plays like ‘Siener in die Suburbsʼ, ‘Vereniging, Vereniging,ʼ Die Hart is maar net ʼn pomp,ʼ ‘Germanikus,ʼ ‘Twaalfde Nagʼ etc.
He featured in the solo performance of “Groot, Groter, N P van Wyk Louwʼ (SABC, KykNET) and the TV musical “Die Ryk Weduwee”
In the TV series ʼDreunkransʼ in which he played a lead.
His production design for ‘Bakers biscuitsʼ landed him a ‘Silver Lion Awardʼ in Cannes, France.
In 2007 he won the Jan Rabie/Rapport Award for his controversial novel.
