HIGHLIGHTS OF SOUTHERN TUSCANY - 4 days/3 nights
Cortona is a small charming town in the Valdichiana, or Chiana Valley, in the province of Arezzo in southern Tuscany.
The city, enclosed by stone walls dating back to Etruscan and Roman times, sits on the top of a hill about 600 meters (about 1968 feet) above sea level.
This dominant position over the valley offers a spectacular view from all over the town of the surrounding valley and even Lake Trasimeno.

Day 2 Montepulciano - Pienza
Breakfast and departure for a full day tour of Montepulciano and Pienza by driving guide.
This tour starts with a visit to the amazing medieval village of Montepulciano in the heart of the Orcia Valley, known all over the world for its wine and its pecorino sheep cheese.
One of the highest Tuscan hills towns, Montepulciano is built along a narrow tufa ridge.
It is a stunningly good – looking town, full of vistas, odd squares and corners and endowed with dozens of Renaissance Palazzi and churches.
Our first stop is San Biagio located on the outskirts.
Free time for lunch on your own.
After lunch your explorations will continue to the upper portion of the town. Montepulciano is famous for its vino nobile, a full-bodied red wine, so a visit would not be complete without a tasting.
We will indeed have a chance to savor this wonderful red in one of the unique wine cellars located in tufa caves beneath the city, perhaps served with a piece of pecorino cheese from Pienza! Later we proceed to the Historic Centre of the City of Pienza.
Return to your Hotel in Cortona in the late afternoon. Dinner on own.
