The security alarm division was sold to Chubb Security Group and Roy Van Zyl entered into a two year service contract with Chubb and assisted them to expand their Johannesburg based business to Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth. This was achieved through acquisitions of established alarm companies in the 3 areas.
When this service contract expired Roy Van Zyl actively promoted the activities of Buffalo Distributors by acquiring the sole area agency of Motorola Communications. A Radio Paging Serviced was established and Motorola 2-Way Radio Systems were sold to many of the businesses in East London, Transkei and Ciskei.
In January 1978 the Chubb Group sold their East London branch back to Buffalo Distributors who acquired the business as a going concern with an established local Control Centre, Service and Installation Department and an Investigation/Armed Response Service. This division operated as an appointed Chubb Agent thus being Involved with installations and services to many of the National Chain Groups.
This Security Alarm Division operating as Amalgamated Burglar Alarms expanded by acquisition and Provident Burglar Alarms and Protech Security Services were added to the Amalgamated Burglar Alarms operation.
Buffalo Distributors actively supported this part of the Eastern Cape with high quality Communications Equipment and Services.
In January 1989 Roy Van Zyl moved to Johannesburg to expand the communications activities to be able to properly support the Sales & Services activities secured into the Transkei and Ciskei Government Departments such as Police, Prisons, Agriculture, Works and Energy and Parks.
Buffalo Distributors had expanded to be the largest supplier of security services and radio communications services in the East London area.
In 2003 the East London operations were sold off to other local enterprises and Buffalo Distributors remained operation in Gauteng moving into trailer manufacturing with the brand Cruiser Trailers.
Buffalo Distributors now concentrates its activities in trailer sales, security products sales, communications equipment sales and consulting in these areas of its expertise.
