The Eagle’s Nest story started in 1985 when Jasper and Helen Cloete bought the first property on the corner of Leslie Ave and William Nicol, Fourways. At the time the area was undeveloped and opposite them (where Norscot Manor is now) was empty land.
Across the road where we now have Design Quarters was a plot where they sold Koy fish.
A block further was a golf driving range which in 2000 become the Monte Casino.
Where the Fourways Shopping Centre now stands, was once a filling station and a greengrocer.
Eagle’s Nest Lodge & Convention Centre started in 1997 when Jasper & Helen Cloete bought the adjacent property and converted it into a Bed and Breakfast with 3 rooms. Helen is the heart of the business and her hostess skills has built the business to where today it spans over 3 residential properties in the heart of the northern suburbs and is considered an oasis in the concrete jungle of the busy Johannesburg city.
Business people and visitors from all over the world are impressed with the quality of the gardens, the spaciousness of the rooms and the quality and friendliness of the staff and service. The secret is found in the fact that it is a fully owned and operated family business.
The Conference Centre stands on what used to be the previous tennis court of the property on which the Bed and Breakfast was started. It became clear that there was a huge need for a multipurpose conference centre in the area that can cater for groups of up to 100 and this birthed the building of the existing Conference Centre in 2003.
With its secure parking for up to 70 cars, its special design that can make it function either as a specialized hall for promotional launches or as normal conference facilities for 3 small groups up to one large group of 100, or can serve as a wedding venue for groups of up to 80 over weekends, it is considered one of the best kept secrets in Johannesburg by everyone who visits the venue for the first time.
