To secure a South African driving licence you require a basic knowledge of road signs, rules of the road and vehicle controls and you must be able to complete a few basic driving manoeuvres.
And if, like some, you resort to “buying” your learners or driving licence, you are driving on our country’s roads without even basic knowledge and skills.
Yet driving is a complex task which requires more than just basic knowledge and skills. To drive safely, you need to know what to do, and what not to do under various circumstances. The horrendous annual death toll of about 14,000 people from collisions on our roads is testimony to the fact that many drivers simply do not know enough! Or couldn’t care less!
The Fatal Moves campaign is premised on the fact that collisions do not "just happen". Collisions are caused by Fatal Moves (actions) by a driver. The Fatal Moves campaign is designed to educate people about 15 specific moves which cause death on our roads.
Every driver should know the 15 Fatal Moves and be able to identify them, consciously avoid them, feel embarrassed to commit them, and understand the tragic consequences of doing them. The message is simple...
DON’T DO FATAL MOVES!
