The SHARP programme is about awakening a little more each day to the power of the choices we make. And the most real way we can do this is through the presence and help of others especially those who are and who have been in the same situation as ourselves.
So SHARP is also about feeling and being part of a caring family. A place where we learn from one another and teach one another how to take personal responsibility for our own actions and emotions. At SHARP we believe that real learning and personal growth is achieved by practicing the principles of unconditional love and acceptance.
Our programme gives people the opportunity to spend an extended time in a safe, clean and nurturing environment to develop self confidence in their sobriety, in their strength to abstain, and in their ability to develop healthy relationships.
SHARP offers primary care and a secondary care programme for clients who have already completed a detoxification or primary treatment programme. The SHARP programme is built on a number of successful processes and programmes for addiction. It uses the Minnesota Model as part of its foundation but has also incorporated a number of best practice processes. These are also tailored for clients with a dual diagnosis.
The centre is staffed by professional counselors, some of who are themselves still in recovery. This creates an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance and provides clients with positive role models. The centre is also supervised by an occupational therapist, a clinical psychologist and a consultant psychiatrist. A residential nursing sister is also located at SHARP.
