Our initial contact with a debtor comprises of sending sms's, telephone contact, and delivery of letters of demand either by registered post or by a field agent. In the event that a debtor cannot be readily found, we also run a trace to ascertain the location and contact details of the debtor. At this stage, once a debtor has been found, we will negotiate with the debtor to enter into a written promise-to-pay contract. This constitutes the pre legal phase of the debt collecting process. If however, the debtor refuses to enter into a promise-to-pay contract, or if the debtor subsequently defaults on their promise-to-pay contract, then due legal process will be instituted against the debtor. This constitutes the full legal phase of the debt collecting process.
