The first Dimity EcoBride collection was launched in October 2011 and features a range of environmentally sensitive bridal gowns that flatter women of all ages and tastes. EcoBride gowns are made out of certified organic fabrics, antique textiles, and heirloom laces – making sure they will be cherished by many generations to follow.
Some of the new (as opposed to antique) fabrics included are organic cotton sateen (certified by the Soil Association), hemp-peace silk blend taffeta, wild silks and organic cotton laces.
It is becoming more important to people to know and celebrate the origin of the items they save for. A bridal gown, possibly the most important dress a girl will ever wear, is the culmination of her personality and what is important to her. EcoBride gowns take all of this into consideration, allowing a bride to display her care for the environment (through careful fabric choices) and the people who live in it (through development of rural skills of crochet & lace making).
