As with the birth of a newborn child: humble, small beginnings saw DJ Pawn Shop develop over the years, from one small shop to progressively form four thriving branches in the Pta West and Moot areas.
The branch situated at 795 Van der Hoff RD was a stepping stone towards the purchase of the property at 464 Bremer street. A warehouse was initially built there. In 1995 the property at 440Van der Hoff Rd was purchased and restored. This shop proved to serve the needs of clients coming from the east side. In 2003 the complex at 401 Church street was purchased and provides a fine source of second hand goods to clients in that area and surroundings.
Mr Dirk Vermeulen, founder of DJ Pawn Shop (which was later renamed DJ Pawn Brokers Cc) recognized in 1988 that a need existed for people to be assisted financially, as well as to supply a good second hand market to others.
The growth of the business was largely due to at a fair pricing evaluation principle being applied. Incoming profits and resources were being re-injected into the business. This caused DJ Pawn Brokers to be a reliable, dependable renowned establishment, benefiting all involved.
The attitude displayed by the managing staff is not one of “I am better than you.” True a manager must be firm but he/she should also be approachable, compassionate, understanding—but at all times FAIR. The staff will often run the extra mile in order to meet the needs of the client.
The Pawnshop industry has a kind of negative aura about it. Often referred to as “loan sharks”. Many are ‘fly by night,’ or there just to take advantage of peoples misfortunes.
DJ Pawn Brokers .cc has over the years received lots of commendation for their neat, well kept, well organized shops. In fact there is an initiative to keep on improving, to keep on making the public feel at home in our shops - to make the client feel he has gained a bargain and was not cheated.
