The peacock, best known for the male’s blue-green rainbow-spotted feathers featured on our logo, suggests the numerous variations of meaning and the continual process of unravelling these connotations within different contexts. Our aim is to represent these meanings through translation, interpretation and transcription as faithfully as possible so that the beauty of the original text, like the splendour of the peacock’s plumage, is reflected in the final product.
Peacock feathers were used as quill pens by scribes from the 6th to the 19th century and were believed to assist in capturing the richness and clarity of the content being transcribed. In India, peacock feathers were placed on the body and alleged to cure croakiness and improve voice quality and general speechmaking abilities. With this in mind, our agency aspires to provide tailored services which promote the diversity of languages, using professional practitioners and practices informed by a strong research foundation.
