Keith started attending pottery classes in the seventies because his friend needed a lift to her pottery class. So he joined the class with her and discovered he had an affinity with the medium – as much to her surprise as his.
His first saleable items were miniatures, baked in an oven in a friend’s kitchen! From small beginnings and a number of years of producing traditional casseroles, pots and planters, his Stonecraft range emerged and has been flourishing for the past 12 years.
Keith then started working on the possibility of making fireplaces. He spent several years researching clay based materials in which fire could be made. Finally he developed a product that had virtually no thermal expansion - ideal for the fireplace application. The result of this has been the creation of his Bluestone Fires – a range that regularly evolves and incorporates new thinking and innovations. It currently includes a variety of pieces that have Keith’s own distinctive touch.
His love of all things earthy and natural and his passion for making fire have led to the development of his OUTDOOR KITCHEN range which includes boma pitfires, braais, pizza ovens, and tandoori ovens.
