Kwazulu Weavers Manufacturing was established some 13 years ago, bringing together generations of weaving knowledge and experience. The factory and shop are situated in the Central Drakensberg Mountain region of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.
We currently employ around 45 staff, all from the local area, ranging from Master Weavers, wool spinners, colour and dye house staff to carding operators. We hand-weave both pure wool and cotton rugs on traditional wooden looms and each step is carefully monitored to ensure our rugs conform to international standards.
The conditions in this area are most favorable for working with wool and Kwazulu Weavers prides itself in producing rugs of the highest quality. We receive ‘A’ grade New Zealand wool which we then dye, card (comb) and spin. This is all done on the premises. The Master Weavers then get to work weaving ‘a piece of art’ to the client’s specifications and our shop has large viewing windows where you can see the weavers at work.
To produce our cotton rugs, the cotton is brushed into thin threads then woven into an assortment of items such as placemats, table runners and bathroom rugs. Aside from the wool and cotton rugs manufactured on the premises, we also stock leather and fine weave rugs that are imported from India.
We offer a wide range of designs and colours to satisfy everyone’s taste. If you are unable to visit us in the area then we are able to take orders via phone, fax and email. We deliver our rugs nationwide at a nominal cost and for the overseas visitors we can ship it straight home for you so you don’t have to worry about excess luggage.
