ABOUT US
Who we are
BASA was founded in 1997 as a joint initiative between the (then) Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology (now the Department of Arts and Culture) and the private sector. A non-profit company, BASA has peer agencies in the UK and Australia and, as at early 2013, has over 160 corporate members.
Underpinning BASA’s work is a belief that the arts are uniquely placed to serve the philanthropic, corporate image building and commercial objectives of a business. While private sector arts funding from Corporate Social Investment (CSI) or philanthropic budgets remains important, BASA’s more recent work has powerfully demonstrated that arts sponsorship and arts partnerships drawn from a company’s marketing or promotional budgets is a cost effective vehicle for the sponsoring company to reach its target markets and communicate effectively with its clients.
BASA serves as a bridge between the business and arts sectors to help each achieve optimal benefits from their partnerships.
Board of Directors
As a non profit company, BASA has a Board of Directors. An Executive Committee meets regularly (at least every two months) to consider application for funding and to provide guidance for the day-to-day affairs of BASA.
