Bringing you a truly African experience on Nelson Mandela Square…
Alan Pick of The Butcher Shop & Grill and Ernst Fischer of Wangthai, Orient, Saigon, kong roast, and oyo Restaurants.
Africa’s dining room on Nelson Mandela Square, “Lekgotla” –The Meeting Place offers you a unique opportunity to experience a fusion of exotic flavours and foods from the African continent. Rhythmic drumming draws the crowds to two “gotla’s” or huts created by Trevor Julius of DSGN Design, one of South Africa’s top designers. Inguni hides pave the way through Trevor’s masterpiece blending Moroccan style walls with stone ruins to create a chic African setting. “Lekgotla” offer patrons three jewelled private dining rooms - Serengeti, Kalahari and Okavango or the two “gotla’s” (each seating 75 guests) for a “Lekgotla” of friends or business colleagues. Mood lighting, candles and majestic leather strip chandelier set the mood for a tranquil evening under African skies.
The “piece de resistance” is the unisex outhouse; small rondavels surround a hand-carved Botswana mokoro basin with sensored taps. The attention to detail makes this a never-to-be-forgotten dining experience.
Beginning with Morocco and ending with Mozambique, patrons can look forward to a taste adventure through Africa guided by culinary extraordinaire Garth Schnier who world renowned was the Captain of the South African Olympic Chefs Team. “Umqomboti”, the glass walk-in wine cellar, offers the finest selection of Cape Wines, which includes the prestigious Cape Wine Makers Guild auction wines.
Before leaving, take a piece of Africa home by visiting “Mopo”, our very own traditional gift shop.
