ABOUT US

Pachas Restaurant a known trademark of Pretoria has been in existence from 1985 until the building was demolished in November 2011.  Thereafter the partnership dissolved, where Andreas Henrich moved to Cape Town, Riann de Villiers to Brazil and Jan Willem Pont enjoyed a well deserved break.

Pachas has now moved to the Maroelana Centre where the Old Cynthias Maroelana was.  The menu combines some of the old Cynthias favourites like the Fillet Haloumi and Fillet Tri Colla together with the old Pachas hits like the Rump with a mustard and brandy sauce, the legendary Duck Fuji, and the Gemsbok Schnitzel with a redwine, bacon and mushroom sauce.  On the starter side we have brought back the Smoked Snoek in Phyllo Pastry, Smoked Springbok Carpaccio and introduced an already loved Lamb Kidney dish.  

Pachas spent a few days revamping the Restaurant to incorporate a more modern feel with our original up market look.  Pachas kept the many private venue options that Cynthias offered for that special occasion or business luncheon or dinner. 

We look forward to entertaining you in our new venue.  To avoid disappointment, please remember to book your year end functions and special occasions!

Half an avocado overflowing with shrimp cocktail and crowned with a slice of egg and caviar
Avocado Crayfish 
Half an avocado topped with succulent crayfish tail chunks, smothered in a creamy coral-coloured sauce 
Steak Tartare 
Raw beef fillet, chopped and flavoured with capers, onions, Dijon mustard, black pepper and olive oil

Hot Starters
Snails 
Half a dozen snails, sizzling in garlic butter and accompanied by chunks of brown bread
Camembert Cheese 
Wedges of cheese served with cranberry sauce and waldorf salad
Calamari Starter 
Tender pieces , lightly battered and served with tartare sauce and your choice of lemon butter, garlic or peri-peri sauce
Stuffed Calamari 
Tubes stuffed with linefish and shrimps, served with basil pesto
Calamari Portuguesa 
Grilled with our secret portuguese sauce
Fish Cakes 
Homemade fishcake served with a sweet chilli sauce
Scallops 
Scallops panfried and topped with a creamy blue cheese sauce

Panfried and served with a mushroom and onion stock

Between the Sheets 
An envelope of fillet with shrimps, asparagus and mushroom in a pepper and cheese sauce
Fillet Atlantis 
Fillet with slivers of lobster in a creamy sherry sauce
Fillet Tri Colla 
Three fillet medallions individually topped with a mushroom, pepper and 
Dijon mustard sauce
Fillet Haloumi 
Fillet medallions topped with haloumi cheese and served with a mixed berry and red wine reduction sauce

Smothered with lychees, cherries and slices of mandarin orange in a fruit sauce, served with croquettes

Cooked in red wine, flavoured with herbs and kidney beans

Catch of the day, deboned, grilled and topped with lemon butter sauce or caper and mushroom buter sauce

Lightly grilled, served with lemon butter sauce
Sole Pachas 
Sole topped with shrimps, mushrooms and asparagus in a creamy white wine sauce
Kingklip Meuniere 
Grilled kingklip in a light batter, topped with lemon butter and served with tartare sauce

Lightly battered and grilled, served with garlic butter, peri-peri or lemon butter sauce
