The owners of Carfax saw an opportunity in the ‘small venue’ prospect of Production as an art form. We took the venue over from the originator who was a close associate.
Tokyo Star was first opened in Melville in the year 2000. We were always known as the beloved corridor bar. After the area as a whole took a turn for the worse, our friendly, welcoming attitude became compromised by the ever growing criminal element.
We moved to Greenside and converted the old hardware store into a fully functional event venue with a sophisticated edge. This ran wonderfully well while we waited to take occupation of the next-door restaurant. After a year, we could begin to renovate this space and open our own restaurant as another aspect to Tokyo Star. Here we have been faced with challenge after challenge, slowly understanding what the business as an entity entails.
During this time, I believe we are safe to say that our popularity as a ‘comprehensive night out venue’ has grown to very satisfactory proportions. Our strict admission laws, dress code and code of conduct has helped us manage the desirable from the ‘no so…’. Our covert charge behind the ‘big black door’ further supports this level of crowd control managed expertly by the Tokyo Star staff.
We continue to refine our agenda to suit the sensibilities of our target market, i.e. Arts orientated, clean fun with all the bells and whistles!
