ABOUT IONNA
Ioanna was introduced to Belly Dance when she was 11 years old and immediately fell in love with the art form. She has been dancing professionally since 2004 and has been teaching since 2006. In 2009 The Belly Dance Academy was established. Ioanna religiously studied Oriental Dance in London for 6 months where she attended many workshops and multiple classes every week and still currently attends various Master classes in South Africa presented by Internationally recognised Master Instructors. Ioanna and her recruited dancers have performed for various ambassadors and royal figures in Africa; They have been flown out on requests to places such as Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana, Swaziland among others, and perform regularly throughout South Africa. Ioanna was invited to perform in Greece in August 2012, where she also attended workshops by Raqia Hassan, Yana Dance, Nelly, Amir Sofi, Maria Aya, Elen Oriental and the list goes on. Ioanna's training, and the training her studio has to offer is predominantly Egyptian Oriental. It is important to remember that Egyptian Oriental is, at the end of the day, a culture to many people in the East and must be treated with utmost respect by being well informed and doing extensive research into this beautiful art form. Ioanna regularly performs at Weddings, Children's Parties, Baby Showers, Corporate Functions, Birthday Parties, Restaurants and Bachelorettes, Mendhi Parties and Greek evenings to name only a few.
Ioanna and The Belly Dance Academy offers training from Absolute beginner through to Professional level and has been professionally trained to dance with the following props:
