 The Smilemakers Entertainment agency started when a well-established magician was inundated with a high volume of enquiries for kiddies birthday parties. He started booking other professional magicians and so Smilemakers was born. The business has grown over the last 24 years into a well re-knowned, professional service provider within the entertainment fraternity. Carla has continued this growth over the last 5 years with new ideas and extensions of the business into other entertainment fields such as décor, equipment and fun foods.
Carla Marcus, the owner of Smilemakers procured Smilemakers in March 2006. Carla's passion and dedication of service par excellence hails from the retail industry. After completing her tertiary studies in Marketing and Sales Management, Carla started her career at the OK Bazaars as a Trainee Buyer and soon worked her way up the ranks to an Executive Buyer. Carla, then moved into Stationery buying for the CNA group, part of Edcon, and explored various areas of confectionery, photography and toys as a buyer. When the opportunity arose for Carla to purchase Smilemakers in March 2006, it was an easy decision.
A seamless hand over, ensured the continued success for an already established business. Carla's passion is continued on a day to day basis, with a hands-on approach in the business, which she runs with the help of a dedicated team that ensures the business continues to thrive.
