At the Sandton & EM SPCA we believe that animals, as living creatures, have a value beyond economic measurement and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. Our aim is the prevention of cruelty to animals and to provide a place of safety and care for all animals in distress. SPCA work encompasses all animals, including wildlife, equine and farm animals, marine life and animals used for experimentation. We are a non-profit organization receiving no assistance from the government, and rely solely on the general public for financial support.
Our Inspectorate Department deal with all cruelty reports as well as pre- and post- home inspections, pet shop checks as well as general pro-active work. At present our borders extend from Lonehill in the north, Linbro Park in the east, Parkhurst in the west and Jules Street in the south, which includes the disadvantaged areas of Malvern, Bertrams, Bez Valley, Alexandra, CBD, Hillbrow, Berea and Braamfontein.
Presently the Sandton & EM SPCA is the only animal welfare organization providing veterinary services to the animals in Alexandra Township and do regular free clinics in the disadvantaged areas as above. This also includes the sterilization of male and female dogs and cats.
