Exercise Therapy
The role of exercise therapy is often under-estimated and neglected.
At Woodmead Chiropractic, we believe that exercise therapy aids in the long term recovery and management of each neuro-musculoskeletal condition.
A comprehensive exercise program consisting of stretching, mobility and strengthening exercises for home or office use, will be provided giving you the tools to take control of your recovery.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a soft tissue therapy involving light and deep pressure to underlying musculature to reduce muscle spasm, tension and pain.
Dry Needle Therapy
Is a procedure whereby an acupuncture needle is inserted into a specific myofascial trigger point. A probing technique with the acupuncture needle may be utilised to activate a muscle twitch to reduce muscle spasm, tension and pain.
Stretching Therapy
Stretching techniques place the muscle in a stretched position to activate a local stretch response with a subsequent reduction in muscle spasm, tension and pain.
Kinesiotaping
Kinesiotaping techniques involve placement of scientifically researched and specifically engineered tape with adhesive properties onto the skin and underlying musculature to aid stability of muscles, relax over-used or fatigued muscles, reduce pain and inflammation whilst facilitating joint movement.
MANUAL THERAPY
Flexion distraction
Flexion distraction is a gentle procedure involving distraction, flexion (forward bending) and lateral flexion (side bending) to a specific spinal segment to mobilise and restore spinal joint range of motion, stretch surrounding ligaments, relax and stretch tight musculature and reduce pressure on the spinal nerves and joints.
Mobilisations
A joint mobilisation is a low speed, low force technique used to encourage movement of a joint with a subsequent reduction in pain and inflammation.
Chiropractic Manipulations
The human body is amazing in design and works like a finely tuned machine.
When one part of the body is not functioning optimally, the other parts of the body become similarly affected. A joint restricted in it's range of motion (due to emotional stress, major or minor trauma, compensation, or joint instability elsewhere), will in turn affect the integrity of other tissues in the body resulting in cartilage softening, muscle weakening, ligament shortening, reduced blood circulation, increased pain and increased inflammation.
The Chiropractic manipulation is a high speed, low force technique that aims to restore joint range of motion and function with a subsequent reduction in pain and inflammation and improvement in the integrity of other tissues in the body.
