We are a well established Practice in Pretoria North. We currently work in a multi-diciplinary teamthat includes: Speech- and Occupational therapists, Psychologists and Physiotherapists and a Dietician. We believe that working with any population, geriatric or pediatric (children) implies a holistic approach into adressing all needs at all of the life stages.
In children a hearing loss could be associated with poor speech development. This implies that after ahearing test the child can immediately be fitted with a hearing aid and Speech therapy can be started to facilitate language development. The diagnosis of a hearing loss in children might have a profound impact on the entire family system. For this reason the Psychologist can guide the family through this process.
In the geriatric population adapting to the use of hearing aids can be a troublesome route to navigate. Again the team approach might include the services of a Psychologist if the need arises.

- Chronic middle ear infection, allergies or sinusitis;
- Poor speech development (in children);

- Tendency to need to look at people when they are talking in order to make it easier to understand what they are saying;
- Fatigue at the end of the day from straining to hear;
- Avoidance of social situations because of difficulty following conversations in noisy environments.
We believe that having your hearing tested is the first step in acuiring a better life plan. It is not an event but a process where the various role players in the team is led by you as the parent or client to direct the outcome.
