 We’ve been shooting full time since 2004, in many varied disciplines of photography and film. Although Sean and I have been friends, and camera-crazy, since childhood, our story officially began when we were students. Sean was studying Audio Visual Production Management at the University of Johannesburg, and I was a Wits Fine Arts student, proudly studying under great South African artists like Jo Ractliff, Walter Oltman and Penny Siopis. Then, horror of horror, one holiday I landed my first freelance photographic job with Father Christmas in a shopping mall. It was love at first click, and despite disapproving hints from my lecturers, I continued to work as a freelance photographer.
Thanks to encouragement from Sean, Focus Photography by Leanne Russell was launched in 2004. In 2009 Sean and I tied the knot both personally and professionally, which prompted a name change to Focus Photo Video to incorporate Sean’s full HD video department. We’ve since grown and evolved this small company, and recently created a fresh image and name to better represent the real Sean and Leanne: Snapdragon Pictures.
We’re now a Johannesburg-based husband and wife team, specializing in, but not limited to, weddings and portraiture. Both of us are fully qualified and highly experienced. We also lead a crew of experienced freelancers who are trained in our style to bring you the option of multiple-camera packages for more diverse and extensive footage.
We use only top of the range equipment, specifically chosen to perform well for those once-in-a-lifetime moments. Our service and conduct is always personal but professional, both before and after the big day. Our style is unobtrusive but comprehensive and incorporates both posed and candid coverage. All footage is edited to perfection, each image and video clip is treated like an individual artwork.
