Tienie Pritchard, one of the most prominent sculptors in South Africa, became renowned for his monumental public commissions, nationally as well as internationally. His subject is the human figure, portrayed nude or semi-nude in bronze.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tienie's studio is situated in the countryside of the Schurveberg area near Hartebeespoort. He works here according to a six- days- a- week and nine- to -six schedule. He does all the modeling in clay, casting in plaster of Paris and polishing of the bronze with the help of a single assistant. The only phase of his work that he does not handle personally is the casting in bronze process. His studio is representative of a body of work that spans a lifetime, because of every work he ever executed, a plaster of Paris cast remains in his studio.
