ABOUT THE ARTIST
Charl Bester was born in Port Elezabeth South Africa on July the 13th 1978. He is the youngest of 4 children, 2 sisters and a brother. He’s father Danie Bester was a bank manager for 22 years and got transferred many times, therefore Charl lived in several towns and city’s including Port Elezabeth, Boksburg, Krugersdorp, Tzaneen, Durban and on a game farm close to gravelotte. If you asked him where he comes from he will tell you Tzaneen where he matriculated in Merensky high school in 1996. He currently lives in Pretoria Gauteng where he worked in an art gallery for 9 years. There he did framing and selling of art and got to know quite a few well known artists.
Charl got inspired to paint and tried his hand in abstract painting. With no formal training or art classes he discovered a technique using lots of water and acrylic paint that gives his paintings a unique look. Charl does not use a single paintbrush in his pieces, he uses only sponges and his hands and fingers to paint.
