Lize Van der Walt was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She matriculated in Johannesburg at Helpmekaar Girls High School and received 96% for her art practical exam.
In 1986 she obtained a National Diploma in Graphic Design at Witwaterstrand Technicon. Lize worked in Graphic Design for 3 years and then started her own design studio in Auckland park called 'Team Design'.
In 1991 Lize immigrated to London, UK where she took a break from her art career and worked as an aerobic instructor and personal trainer. She also joined the TV series 'Gladiators' for London weekend television.
Unfortunately she got an injury during the first season and her career as a famous Gladiator ended.

In 2003 she returned to her home country, South Africa.
In September 2015 she opened The Art Gallery @ Hermanus in collaboration with three local artists, which is situated on corner High Street and Royal Lane in Hermanus. It was a dream come true, as she always wanted her own gallery.
All her works are created in her studio at home where her focus is painting and spending time with her 9 year old son, Michael.
