Founded in 1989 by brothers Gavin and Mark Powell. Boogaloos has become a household name and well respected as a leader in the Action Sports Industry.
From its humble beginnings starting out as a single retail store at Bruma Lake in Johannesburg with a mindset of offering unique and exclusive alternate street fashion and hard goods to the marketplace the Boogaloos business evolved to a national retail chain and Distribution of multiple global Action Sports brands throughout the territory and parts of Africa.
Boogaloos pioneered the development of privately owned skateparks throughout the country from state of the art indoor wood parks to outdoor concrete parks – “The ball parks of the future”. Boogaloos initiated and was responsible for the majority of the international skateboarding pro tours to South Africa through the 90’s that laid the canvas on which this amazing art form spread and ignited the broader Action Sports culture through the years to come.
The Boogaloos legacy lives on today, servicing and delivering authentic and cutting edge products to the market with a purpose of giving back and making a difference. We remain core to our roots and committed to Excellence.
