Sandton Appliance Services was established in 1985, trading as Ferdi Fonics/Sandton Appliance Services (Pty) Ltd. It was acquired in 1990 by the present owner, Don Barecchia who registered it as Sandton Appliance Services cc.
As the demand for the specialized services it provided increased gradually over the years, it became necessary to augment the technical staff and working space compelling the company to expand in 1995 within the Hobart Rd. Shopping Centre, amd further opening of a branch, in 2004, in the Orion Shopping Centre, Elma Park, operating as Bedfordview Appliance Services & Repairs, with the main aim of providing quicker services for these areas.
Once again, space constraints prompted both companies to expand and relocate to new premises in 2010: Sandton Appliance Services by the Cramerview Centre (Bryanston) and Bedfordview Appliance Services By Sunview Centre (Bedfordview East). The latter branch is managed entirely by Don's son Pino, who is also highly specialised in the appliance servicing field.
The outstanding track record of both companies has led to their appointment as service agents for insurance companies such as Izinga Access and Standard Bank Home Assist for the maintenance of all white/grey appliances and WAHL, Tefal and Twincare International for hair care equipment and small appliances. The companies together have an average staff complement of 20 skilled employees.
