Magic Man Hendini is the stage name of actor Hendrik Baird.
Hendrik started becoming interested in performing magic at the age of 8, when he started studying magic and performing for his friends and family. In high school Hendrik studied sleight of hand and other techniques and his interest in magic eventually led him to study Drama.
Hendrik studied Drama at the University of Pretoria where he obtained an Honors Degree in acting. He has worked as a professional actor, writer, puppeteer, director and arts administrator. In 1994 he established and then managed the developmental arts festival, The North West Cultural Calabash, which was presented annually until 2008 in the rural village of Taung.
Magic has remained a big part of Hendrik's life and he focused mainly on entertaining children, while also doing magic for adults.
Hendrik has a passion for comedy and he continually develops new shows.
"I just love performing magic and watching people's reaction", he says.
Based in Pretoria, Hendrik is free to travel to wherever the magic takes him.
