Have I always been a photographer? I recently thought about this question and can unashamedly admit yes.
To me photography is much more than taking pictures, it’s a passion. I like to think of it as having a birthday everyday. So what makes me tick? I have an amazing wife, great kids and some crazy friends who all support me and for that I am extremely grateful. Apart from taking pictures is there anything else that I am good at? In the kitchen I can rustle up a a fantastic garlic fillet, with the emphasis on the garlic. It must have been the many times I spent watching my grandmother in the kitchen who was Portuguese, cooking traditional Mozambican food. I love a good red wine, cold beer on a hot summers day and of course a siesta in the afternoon.
Traveling is another passion of mine, and I have been fortunate enough to have photographed weddings Internationally which has instilled in me a desire to experience new food, cultures and capturing images that I feel proud of. Having received numerous awards for my photography is confirmation by one’s peers that what you are doing is cutting edge and driving the industry forward. However at the end of the day, and this is something that I have promised myself, I shoot for myself as well as my clients not for my peers and the only thing that is important to me is that the photographs I’m shooting today are better than the photographs I shot yesterday, and that the photographs you hold in your hands forty years from now bring the same smile to your face that they do now.
