ABOUT US
Normal and Surgical Extractions
Whether it be a normal straight forward tooth extraction or a surgical removal of a tooth or root, the doctors at Serenity Dental Clinics are trained in conservatively removing these teeth using special luxation technique. This ensures quick, painless and very comfortable treatment for the patient.
With the advent of Piezosurgery we can further ease the trauma of the removal of teeth. These conservative techniques can further lead to bone conservation and if the next treatment is implant placement into the socket/s, this can be done with more confidence.
Call us at any one of our Centres to schedule a time at Blairgowrie (servicing Jhb. North) 011 326 0938 or Bedfordview (servicing Jhb. East and Jhb. South) 011 615 9352 (located close to the airport) Johannesburg South Africa.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment or Endodontic Therapy is a sequence of treatment for the pulp of a tooth which has disease or inflammation. In other words, when a tooth abscesses or has a pulp (nerve) exposure due to decay or trauma. In this way we are able to keep the tooth in the mouth and be saved. The other alternative in this case is to remove the tooth.
Once we clean out the diseased part of the root we are able to fill it with an inert material, namely Gutta Percha, to reduce the risk of infection. Finally the tooth is sealed, usually with a crown.
Dentures
Dentures are used as a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures available. Complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Are there alternatives to dentures? Yes, dental implants can be used to support permanently retained bridges for both partial and fully edentulous cases, eliminating the need for a denture. The cost if greater, but the implants and bridges or implant supported over dentures more closely resembles the feel of real teeth.
Dental implants are becoming the alternative to dentures but not everyone is a candidate for implants.
Dental Implants
“Replacement teeth” that look and feel like your own. An implant is a Tooth Root that the dentist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are a great option for people in good general health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to caries, periodontal disease, an injury or some other reason.
Dental Implants have certainly become a highly predictable treatment modality. Using highly skilled placement methods and while seemingly Hi-Tech in nature, dental implants are more tooth saving than the traditional Bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support.
Metal Free Crowns and Bridges
At Serenity Dental we are constantly innovating and bringing new technology to the fore. Using advanced technology in dentistry allows us to restore teeth in the most conservative, functional and aesthetic approach ever possible. For the patient the end result is metal free crowns and bridges that look and feel like natural teeth. By removing the metal base under the crowns, we no longer have to worry about teeth that show dark lines or patients having metal allergies. The new Zirconia Base Ceramic Crowns have the amazing ability to block out unsightly dark areas while retaining translucency.
