FitFlop technology was engineered in 2006 at London South Bank University (LSBU) and was independently tested at Salford University in Manchester to verify their pro-muscle activity prior to launch. Research at the Centre for Human Performance at LSBU shows that normal walking in FitFlop footwear can help increase leg and bottom muscle activity by up to 30% (check this training video), while absorbing up to 22% more shock than a normal shoe and therefore help relieve joint stress, foot pressure and pain from heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. FitFlop has been given the ‘seal of approval’ by the American Podiatric Medical Association and since their launch in 2007 over 12 million pairs have been sold.
