Baby Essentials is a free service to give moms a 'heads up' on current specials on baby products such as nappies, wet wipes, formula and first foods – What I deem essential baby products.
It all started in 2010 when my little boy was a year old. I was forever looking for specials on nappies, etc. When you buy these on special you can save anything up to R50.00 per pack – now that is a good buy. I wished that there was someone to tell me when these products were going on special – and that is how it all started.
So Baby Essentials sends moms a free sms to tell them when participating retailers are having a special on nappies, wet wipes, formula and first foods.
I prefer sms's because it is short and to the point. The information is also available immediately and can be saved and recalled at a later stage when you are in the shop. It is also free – no downloads. Further, a full list of the baby specials will be listed on the website and is also designed for easy mobile view.
It can be worrying giving out your cell number due to the vast amounts of ‘junk’ mail we are bombarded with. To assure you – Baby Essentials administer all the numbers on its database. The numbers are protected by password and will never be sold or viewed by others. You will only receive sms’s on essential baby products – things that you will most likely use. When you no longer wish to receive our notifications of baby specials then you can always opt out by replying stop to the sms.
In January 2010 I had 350 moms who voluntarily request this service. In December 2010 the database had grown to just over 8000 moms from all over South Africa. The response has been tremendous – a big thanks to all the moms on our database all over South Africa, and we now as of May 2011 have over 12500 registered moms.
