ABOUT US
Construction (1955)
Bellagio was founded in 1955 by Mr Ismail Ravat as a small jewellery store in the heart of the Vereeniging C.B.D. In 1965 he brought his son, Mr Ahmed Ravat, into the business. By 1980 they had established a manufacturing division employing some of the most talented goldsmiths available locally.
Development (1990)
In 1990 the company was again transformed with the launch of the import division which allowed for sourcing of a unique range of upmarket jewellery from abroad.
With growth plans now turning towards expansion, Bellagio opened its first Johannesburg store in 1996 within the Westgate Shopping Centre.
Changes (1999)
In 1999 Mr Mohammed Ravat was made director and took over management of the Westgate branch where he strengthened the watch and jewellery brand mix, which was totally unique in South Africa.
In the Bellagio mind-set there does not exist such a thing as ‘good enough’ but only “let’s do better”.
Glorified (2009)
In 2009 we began the implementation of our new ‘aesthetic design concept’ which is a modern and sophisticated mix of colour and light complemented by beautiful jewellery.
We were officially chosen as exclusive agents in South Africa for Blancpain, Ulysse Nardin, Corum, Jaquet Droz as well as being chosen to represent Glashuette Original and Bell&Ross.
Reborn (2010)
In March 2010 Bellagio opened in the high fashion section of the Eastgate Shopping Mall. In November 2010 Bellagio relocated its boutique in the West Rand to the upmarket Clearwater Mall.
With its current portfolio of stores in the Greater Johannesburg area Bellagio has firmly established itself in the Gauteng Province.
On the Move (2012)
With new additions to the management team and an added emphasis on the Bellagio Jewellery Collections, the standard of excellence has been raised even further.
New partnerships with luxury brands Chopard, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Roger Dubuis have been forged, cementing Bellagio as the undoubted leader in the watch and jewellery industry.
