ABOUT US
THE ORGANISATION
Catzrus is dedicated to caring for stray, unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens until such time that they are able to find permanent loving homes. This organization has no source of income and does not benefit financially from the adoption fee. Care is given by volunteers; therefore we are appealing for people willing to give their time, sponsorship of cages or donations for food, litter and veterinary fees.
ADULT CATS
We have very limited space for adult cats. When an adult cat is re-homed the adoption fee ensures that the cat is vaccinated, de-wormed, sterilized and micro chipped.
KITTENS
The kittens come mostly from backgrounds where the mother has disappeared or they have been dumped and left to fend for themselves. Where possible we try to keep them with their mothers until they are 6- 8 weeks old. If they are too small to feed themselves, our willing volunteers bottle or syringe feed them until they can eat solids. At this stage they come to our shelter to await adoption, which takes place from 7-8 weeks onwards.
New cages have recently been erected at the Glen Animal Clinic to house the kittens and teenage cats until such time that they find permanently loving homes. This cage allows for more space to run around and play ensuring that our young ones are happy and healthy.
The adoption fee of R580 is applicable to kittens as well and covers the vaccination, de-worming, microchip and sterilisation at 5½ to 6 months.
