ABOUT US
CO-SANC is a compassionate, no-kill but scientifically run cat shelter and animal adoption centre. We are not a new charity, but it is a new place, being a co-operative venture between a veterinary clinic and 5 pro-life animal charities.
We DO NOT take in animals directly from the public because we control numbers strictly and have an admission and quarantine process controlled by our vet. Admissions are strictly by arrangement with one of the participating charities, and all our animals are sourced from them. Cats live on the property.
Dogs and other animals are brought in on weekends for the public to view.
We charge a R500 adoption fee because all our cats are sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed, tested for the “Dread Disease” cat viruses, microchipped and have all past a 16-point, 7-day veterinary check/testing and quarantine period. We do all this on admission, not only on adoption, so we carry the costs upfront, and the cats are ready to leave immediately.
We DO NOT euthanase, except in rare cases of terminal illness or incurable suffering.
Apart from our cleaner/caretaker, all staff, including our vet, work on a voluntary basis, so all donations benefit the animals directly. VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS WELCOME.
We are on lovely country property in Nooitgedacht between the Lion Park and Muldersdrift (View Map). Please come and visit us for an enjoyable family day out, we are open Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.

What We Do
- Provide a compassionate, pro-life but scientifically managed cat sanctuary.
- Adopt out sterilised, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and viral-tested cats.
- Source all our animals from existing pro-life charities.
- Pass every cat through a 12-point quarantine process before available.
- Always take back any animal with one of our microchips.
- Charge a R500 adoption fee so that non-committed, irresponsible owners, and those with malicious intentions, are not interested in our animals.
What We Don’t Do
- Take in animals directly from the public.
- Adopt out any unsterilised.
- Spend money on admin and salaries. All staff work on a volantary basis.
- Adopt out animals to dangerous or unsuitable environments.
- Euthanase any animal, unless it is terminally ill.
