Tiakaya – the name
Tiakaya is a combination of words with meaningful symbolism.
While working abroad a dream developed… of a beautiful ecological business environment of unique creations…. A space combining diverse ranges of design & creativity, whilst providing an inspirational, experiential atmosphere. A space of relaxed productivity. A collaborative space for designers and artists of different interests and media, communal ideals with a positive social interaction.
Kaya became the name to this dream, and South Africa the Dreamland.
“Kaya” – “Zulu for ‘home’ and the ancient Zulu mantra which says, “You carry your home in your heart”.
“Kaya:” – ” a unique Japanese tree characterized by its strength and resistance to environmental stress”
“Kaya:” – “body” and “nature” in Buddhism, refers to the bodies in which beings manifest.”
“Kaya” – “Enlightenment – Rastafarian dialect”
“Kaya” – “prosperous – Indonesian”
Tia
The name Tia, Taryn’s creative alias, is the sacred name from Haida mythology of the goddess which represents the dualism of life. This dualism is a design dialogue often explored in Tiakaya’s scope of work.
