We use only the best quality ingredients and support small businesses.
Our chicken is from Mitchell’s Chickens. The chickens live out in the Cradle of Humankind and roam free, eating only the best grub. Healthy, fat, happy chickens. We roast ‘em whole and pull the meat off the bones by hand.
Our other meat is from Braeside in Parkhurst and is all grass-fed, hormone-free, steroid-free and free-range.
The bread we use for our toasted sandwiches is from a Mozambican baker based in Joburg who stays up all night baking and runs around the city in the morning delivering his loaves. Our Rye option is from the independent baker 100m up Jan Smuts Avenue who we jog past to collect our orders (Helen, you’re the best!)
We make our own granola by toasting organic rolled oats, nuts, seeds, apple juice and honey. Served with fat-free yoghurt, bananas and berries, it is breakfast perfection.
We have sourced what we believe is the best quality Spanish Chourizo, proper Italian Parma Ham and beautifully smoked Chilean Salmon. Not forgetting real-deal Parmigiano Reggiano.
Our goat’s cheese is from Pepe Charlot who manufactures down the road from us in Craighall Park.
Our other cheeses are from Cremalat – only the best.
The chocolate we use in the hot chocolate, mochaccinos and banana bread is Valrhona – only! Is there a better chocolate in the world?
Our jams and preserved figs are delivered directly to us from Hilton Honey Farms in the KZN Midlands. Low in sugar and high in fruit – beautiful stuff.
And then we do all the usual stuff – free-range eggs, organic veg where we can.
Let us not forget our coffee. Our coffee is from Deluxe Coffeeworks in Cape Town. Roasted with love and care. They’re perfectionists! We consider our coffee stock very carefully to always ensure that you have a freshly roasted bean.
