Mission Statement
Midrand Montessori Pre-Primary is an intimate home-away-from-home that provides children aged 12 months to 6 years with a stimulating and enticing environment. They are given freedom to discover themselves and develop their individual personalities and talents within a controlled, calm atmosphere.
Our school is led by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers that strive to prepare each individual child for a successful future. We believe in guiding our children to become confident and independent, instilling in them a sense of high self worth and esteem, with our motto being:
"The children come first".
Move to Learn, Learn to Move Program
In August of 2008, Siân de Jong attended the Move to Learn, Learn to Move Workshop presented by Susanne van Niekerk from The Brain Connection (Centre for Neuro-Educational Assessment and Learning Efficiency). The Move to Learn program goes back to basics to promote sound Neuro-Educational Development to ensure Learning Readiness. In order for the brain to be ready to learn, all reflexes and sub-systems (vestibular, proprioceptive, laterality, directionality etc) need to be able to function efficiently on their own in order that effective inter-hemispheric integration can take place. A basic integrated movement programme (including Brain Gym and Integrated Learning Therapy) is incorporated daily in the classroom.
