The Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton is a home away from home ideally located in the financial epicenter and commercial hub of Sandton, North of Johannesburg, South Africa, a mere 3 minutes away from the Sandton Gautrain Station. The Gautrain takes just 15 minutes to get to O.R. Tambo International Airport.
The Balalaika is just 200 meters from Sandton City Shopping Centre, Sandton Convention Centre and Nelson Mandela square.
The Balalaika Hotel celebrated its 60th year in operation in 2009. An ongoing refurbishment and renewal programme has enabled us to offer the most modern facilities such as WiFi throughout the hotel, a business centre and state of the art conference facilities while retaining the classic colonial ambience and a level of service not found elsewhere. Modernising without compromising.
The Hotel has 330-bedrooms spread over two sections - the Balalaika and the Crown Court - each room is air-conditioned and tastefully furnished in a classic, comfortable style with its own en suite bathroom featuring a separate shower.
Both sections of the Hotel have a pool that is set in lush landscaped gardens, where guests can relax and unwind and enjoy a sundowner on either the terrace or at the pool bar.
Our conference and function centre, comprising 9 well equipped rooms, can accommodate from 6 to 350 delegates. Our weddings and functions team can make any function run smoothly.
We pride ourselves on efficient, friendly and attentive service. Our passionate staff will be on hand to ensure that all of your needs are met.
The Hotel is also within walking distance of the Sandton City Shopping Centre, Nelson Mandela Square and the Sandton Convention Centre. The Johannesburg Stock Exchange is on our doorstep as well as Deutsche Bank, ABM Amro, Nedbank, RMB, HSBC and Investec, which makes us the perfect hotel for those doing business in Sandton and surrounding areas.
The Balalaika Hotel is the only Protea Hotel in Sandton. Although we are in the financial centre we are proud to have beautiful gardens which justify our claim to be
"a little bit of country in the heart of Sandton".
