MULTI-DISCIPLINARY THERAPY TEAM
Class teaching at Glenoaks School is supported and strengthened by a multi-disciplinary team of therapists who assess and treat learners. Re-assessments are generally conducted on an annual basis. Therapy is conducted either on an individual, small group or class basis according to need. Parents are at liberty to observe therapy sessions (except Psychotherapy) by arrangement.
The therapists and teachers work together to help learners form a positive relationship with school and to become happy, productive and self-confident participants in the learning process.
Once a term the class teacher and therapists meet for an in-depth discussion on each member of the class, and at the end of each term there are comprehensive feedback sessions to parents at which teachers and therapists are present.
The therapies include:
• Speech and Language Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Remedial Therapy
• Psychotherapy

PSYCHOLOGY
The Psychologists focus principally on three areas:
• Assessments – psychological and emotional
• Parental Guidance
• Play Therapy / Psychotherapy
The main aim of the support provided by this unit is to work towards children who can reach their potential individually, socially and academically. An aspect of the Parental Guidance component is to conduct workshops for parents on specific topics from time to time.
