Discount Pawn Randgate was established in June 1993 by Howard Thomson and Peter Combrink.Howard remains the owner of the Randgate shop and Peter the owner of the Krugersdorp shop,both operating completely independently of each other. Starting from very humble beginnings with one staff member and a 100 meter square shop,whereas today we have a 500 meter square shop and ten employees.
Our motto is to give great service to all customers all the time. Every single customer is important to us. The customer comes first at all costs and we strive to keep that in our DNA.
We were among the first secondhand shops to guarantee our products and offer repair assistance on older products too.We also take the viewpoint that as secondhand dealers we need to protect our clients from buying stolen or broken secondhand goods and we will take the risk for our clients.
After 20 years we have built up a name as reliable and trustworthy pawnbrokers.We have worked very closely with the South African Police Services in the past to apprehend criminals that try to sell stolen goods.
We have worked closely and have partnered with an independent operator (the late) Niel Tromp(now deceased)and a software company Netgen to produce a Point Of Sale system for pawnbroking that helps keep the shop owner in control of his business at all times, and helps keep the criminal element away from our doors.The software is currently being used by all the largest pawn shops in the country and we are looking to expand it overseas shortly.It captures all the vital information including: ID scans,photos of clients and full description of goods bought,pawned, sold etc.
