Our own history with Singer starts in 1943 when Mr. Pieter Raubenheimer started as a Sewing Machine Technician in Pretoria, in the old Singer Depot in Struben Street. (He also got married in the same year.) He became very well known by many people as a very diligent person and committed to excellent service.
In 1970 he went to Germany to study the new Singer 700 edition – the first machine that could wind the thread on the bobbin automatically, without removing the bobbin from the bobbin case. Shortly hereafter in 1972 he became a Singer dealer and opened 2 other shops in Pretoria, one in Menlyn Retail Centre and another in The Meent, c/o Pretorius and Andries street, near Church Square.
He received many awards from Singer SA for excellent and long service (50 years in 1995).
He was a committed Christian man who went and visited people who were searching for answers on spiritual matters and he would spend weeks – 6 weeks at least to teach and train these people and to encourage them to get to know the God whom he loved and trusted.
After he died in 1997 his son took over his lifetimes work and is now currently fulltime in the workshop. Gerrit Raubenheimer is a qualified Electro Technical Engineer and delivers a thorough and efficient service to all customers.
Welcome to our online shop where we will continue to build on our good name and service.
