Therapon College originates from Therapon Consulting that operated from 2001. It was established primarily for training of counselors and trauma counselors. It facilitated specialized training to Psychologists, Social Workers and lay counselors in church context.
Therapon Consult worked in close partnership with training institutions and facilitated mentoring of graduate students.
In 2012 the need for a College arose and lead to the registering of Therapon College for Higher Education and Training (Pty) Ltd (2012/181131/07).
Therapon College started as a student support service offering support to students on different levels that study by means of distance education. Therapon College operate as training partner of Siyanqoba Seminars (Pty) Ltd. Therapon College further facilitates study groups for students enrolled in NPDE with the Department of Open Learning – Nort West University.
Therapon College offers Skill Development Training that are credit bearing (as training partner) as well as short courses based on SAQA Unit standards but that’s not credit bearing.
As member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and The National Center for Crisis Management (USA), Therapon engage in workshops and training in the disciplines of trauma and school crisis management. Successful completion of these programmes may lead to registration with either of the aforementioned professional bodies.
