Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu(蔡李佛功夫)
Choy Lay Fut kung fu originated from the Southern parts of China. It was created from a combination of a few styles, and since its humble beginnings, Choy Lay Fut ( 蔡李佛)has evolved to one of the most powerful styles of Kung Fu known today. It is a fast moving style, with allot of emphasis on flexible hips and fast, relaxed powerful movements.
Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛)forms are beautiful to look at and are often described (by spectators) as spectacular. Legend has it that Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛) was created by Chan Heung (陳享). It is believed that Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛)was named after Choy Fook (蔡褔), and Lay (Lee) Yau San (李友山). These were some of Chan's masters who played a big role in the development of Chan's Martial Arts progression. Fut (佛), refers to Buddha. Chan Heung (陳享) was a devoted Buddhist, and studied Buddhism with Choy Fook (蔡褔).
Our school follows the Hung Sing (鴻勝) Line of Choy Lay Fut from Cheung Ah Yim (張炎) lineage. Another legend has it t Cheung Ah Yim (張炎) was a student of Chan Heung (陳享)who then helped formulate this style of Hung Sing (鴻勝)Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛). Our Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛) was passed down to us in 1987 by our grandmaster, master Lee Koon Hung from the World Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Association to Sifu Andre Grobler who also was Sifu Daniel” Sifu since the mid 80’s and we are training under the guidance of GrandMaster Poon Sing, one of the instructors the late Grandmaster Lee Koon Hung.
Curriculum (課程)
We follow a carefully worked out curriculum that covers all the ranges of Kung Fu training. The curriculum is formulated and structured to prepare the student to future levels. Forms follow upon each other, and each level of training build upon the last level. Students not only learn new techniques after each level, they also practice and learn to use techniques taught in previous levels, in various different situations.
