Hi there,
A few months ago, I eavesdropped a conversation while in a queue at the iStore in Sandton. What amazed me was the passion of the lad who was describing the best fish and chips he had ever eaten. I thought, at first, that he was proposing. I suspect she may also have gotten that idea, but the flowers were a happy day gift not to be confused with his passion for "Fish and chips." From portion size to taste and value, he could not have been more enthusiastic about the fish and chips shop he had discovered if he had tried.
I suspect he had no idea of his wider audience, for it was not long before others in the queue were sharing disappointment at the fare on offer from their local fish and chips shop.

I'd never really given fish and chips much deep thought, but over the next week or so, I became a regular at Fish Hook in the Waterford Centre in Fourways. How many others have become regulars due to that casual encounter with an enthusiast? Any foot traffic to their store gained from his referrals is well deserved.

There is not much more classic than fish and chips. Indeed, it is an everyday meal, but for the fish to be a culinary triumph, it begs for a crispy batter, flaky hake, and a touch of freshly squeezed lemon.
Grilled hake is also a simple dish, but it will delight the most discerning palate when done well.
I passed the Waterford Centre recently and surprised my wife with a "classic" takeaway on the patio. I ordered the medium hake, one grilled and another deep fried in a batter with small chips to share.
Was it affordable value for money? Certainly, and did it meet my seasoned expectations for the best the North offers? Absolutely, but please add your reviews and let us all know your views on this simple way to delight your taste buds!
Next, let's chat about the chips.
Starting with the cut: straight cut of varying lengths and thicknesses, curly cut, crinkle cut or "spuds julienne", the standard thin version, wedge cut, something like a roast potato, some crispy, some not. Next, the fry can be lightly fried, offering the traditional "slap chip," preboiled and crisply fried or just deep fried. Finally, what they're cooked in makes a difference: vegetable oil, lard (fats) or flavoured oils.
Back in the day, frying in lard offered finger-licking wholesomeness instead of the blandness of vegetable oil, which is why some use flavoured oil. Using beef flavouring to replicate the "lard fry" taste renders the "spud" a non-vegetarian! We must also include identity: British, French, or American covers most of the playing field. Interestingly, "American Fries" are french fried, which refers to the cut, not the country ie the thin (McDonald/Kentucky) crispy fry. British could be the slap chip that soaks up salt and vinegar like no other, and the French, preboiled with a soft centre encased in a golden crispiness that makes it, too, like no other. We live in a global world where you will find them all everywhere.
To the purest, a British "Chip" is soft and lightly fried, while "Fries" are deep fried to crispness. So, to the discerning few, chips are never fries!

Arrive at Lyon airport or Lyon central train station. A private car will transfer you to your enchanting chateau accommodations.

Your personal concierge for the week, Diane, has made you reservations at the restaurant of the chateau. (Cost not included).

Each morning, head into the chateau’s spacious kitchen for a hands-on 2-hour cooking class led by the restaurant’s executive chef.

You’ll learn how to prepare a variety of classic French dishes, such as coq au van using Bresse chickens, escargot, frog legs (if you like!), and crepe suzette.

Both your lunch and dinner will be based on the creations you’ve made in class. Enjoy the dishes either in the dining room or, weather permitting, out in the lovely garden.

Daily excursions have been arranged through the road less traveled and into the countryside, where you can enjoy the beauty of the medieval castles and quaint villages.

The visits vary depending on the season as well as the local festivals.

Some excursions may include wine tastings, a visit to the nearby town of Macon, the prehistoric Solutre rock, Cormatin Castle, and perhaps a tour of a local cheese producer in the panoramic French mountains. (If you opt to not go on the excursions with Diane, you can spend it at leisure, relaxing by the pool, going horseback riding, cycling, or enjoying a massage.)

CATTLE / LIVESTOCK TRAILERS
Cruiser Trailers popular range of cattle / livestock trailers come in 3 lengths – 3.0 metres, 3.5 metres and 4.0 metres by 1850 mm wide and 1800 mm in height.
Cruiser Trailers boast a robust well balanced and constructed design with 5 (five) 100 x 50 mm upright supports on all models.
Cruiser Trailers design uses 32 mm round tubing for side railings and unlike other manufacturers our unique design and construction ensures that the railings pass through the uprights and are welded either side giving the main frame better rigidity and additional strength and ensure that during transport of animals they cannot be bumped causing the welding to break loose.
As an option the Cruiser Trailers Cattle / Livestock trailer offers a unique rear gate configuration where the entire rear can drop down giving a ramp across the entire rear or half drops down acting as a rear half ramp and the second half is a sliding gate. The standard model has either 2 drop down rear ramps or 1 drop down ramp and 1 swing gate enabling ease of loading. As an additional option you may choose to have a sliding gate at the right hand front of the Cruiser Trailer giving an additional entry point.
All models have a centre divider dividing the Cruiser Trailer in half lengthways to enable easy transport of large robust bulls. Alternatively you may have a centre cross divider enabling the Cruiser Trailer to ne divided into 4 compartments for easy transport of numerous small animals. All Cruiser Trailers have a fastrap floor and an anti slip grid type floor mat that ensures the animals will not slip and slide in the Cruiser Trailer whilst in motion.
Cruiser Trailers come in 2 options - 2.6 Ton Model and 3.5 Ton Model capable of being towed by our normal run of the mill bakkies.
